Kate’s Barnacle Studies stem from their fascination with the arthropods, a fascination tinged with a degree of revulsion from the creepy-crawly feeling the creatures evoke for her. The series explores the various barnacles found on rocks and shells, often amongst seaweed. Using a Nikon z7ii mirrorless camera with a Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens, Kate crouches in the sand to shoot the small crustaceans from new angles, working not to disturb the creatures in the process.
